VARIATIONS
There are two basic types of constant velocity joints, inboard and outboard. They are not interchangeable.
- Inboard CV -- these joints connect the two half shafts to the differential section of the transaxle. In addition to rotating, the inboard (or plunge) CV joints must slide in and out to permit movement of the half shaft.
- Outboard CV -- these joints are connected at the wheels.
